If a woman left her husband and she was self employed earning 7,000 per year is she entitled to benefits and housing. Can the husband be made to give her half the value of the house? There are no dependent children. Would he have to pay maintenance to her as they have been married 25 years. The reason being unreasonable behaviour.

Is the house in joint names?

A useful guide here:

The wife will certainly be entitled to some equity of the house, even if it just in his name. There will be an equitable interest as she will have treated the house as hers and believed she had a right to live in that house for life.

Fault does not come in to it all.
