well, they must have video or photo evidence or even a witness,to the incident, they dont just pluck reg numbers out of a hat.

My car My colour my reg, but i was not there until an hour later than they say, they said i hit another car and drove off, but road was rammed and i couldnt have got away if i tried.

I honestly know nothing about this and i am worried about losing my licence as its my job.

wont disclose what they have , but i have a car in one peice with no damage to it.
it could have been when the clocks went forward, was it at the end of march, the video might have not been put forward for a few days, thats all i can think of,but if they have all your info it must be something, you have done.

well darren, they must have some evidence
it sounds like similar thing that happened to me. I was driving home late one night, minding my own business Was flashed and beeped by a car behind. She was siganalling me to stop. We stopped. I got out not knowing why she had wanted me to stop, then the woman started shouting at me and said that I had damaged her car. i looked at her car and it had a massive dent on the wing, looked at mine and not even a scuff.

I told her that I was a fleet manager, which I am, and told her that faking an accident so that she could have her damage repaired by my insurers was fraud. I took photos of her car, reg, my car with her next to it etc etc.

I got home and called the insurers straight away to advise them that some nutter was trying to make out that I hit her. A) I was in front of her, B) IF I DID it her I would have felt it C)I would have damage.

I got a letter stating that the 3rd party had admitted liability, wierd but understandable as it was a load of crap. Then I get a letter saying that she had withdrawn her statement and said that I was to blame. I wrote a letter, enforcing thatI am a fleet manager and deal with these sorts of bogus claimns everyday. sent them the photo, witness names and basically explained that it would have been impossible for me to hit her car. That was last year. nothing since then. People try and get old dam,age repaired by blaming inoncent drivers and claiming off their insurance.
...someone has obviously picked your car out and used the name, coulour and reg and is trying to blame you for old damage to there car in order for them t get it repaired.

Thanks for the reply, the insurance bit doesnt worry me too much , its the fact that they are trying to do me for driving without due care and failing to stop that does.

Have sent letter off with photos of car and will have a report done by Renault to prove that the car is original and no repairs have been done to it.

Another question,
I have rang police to try and get some more information about the said incident, But am having a real hard time getting anything out of them.
They will only say that i had an accident and that the other person had a conversation with me and i drove off ( As i said before I do not know anything about this event ).
I have asked what ,if any damage has been done to the other vehicle but cant get any info from them, as this would be mirrored on my car, and put my mind at ease.
Are they obliged to give me this info or am i just supposed to guess, and hope that the info i have given in reply proves that it was not me ?

Also, I contacted my insurance company who said they have had no claim for this incident from another company, which seems strange, as i would have though the other person would have passed details onto there insurance company and so on,,as well as to the police.
Is this all a bit strange or is it me going mad ?
