we lent my nephew our car which was on hp he said he would pay the payments he has failed to do so and wont give it back to us to hand back as we have paid half of it is this against the law cos he doesnt own the car hes just the registered keeper hoe can i hand it back without log books and keys etc could i uplift it without these if its not his
On HP I think the finance company still owns the vehicle. Their contract is with you. If he refuses to hand it back it sounds like theft. Can you prove you did not agree to "give/sell" to him? I'd ask the finance company. If it still their property they may write to him. That might be enough.
hi thx for ur advice i spoke to the finance company they sed it was a civil matter but i thought they could do something i definately did not sell to him we put his name as registered keeper to save drink driving etc/speeding in our name but the police sed its not against the law to do that
