The question does not arise in happy families. Where there is conflict, grandparents can go to the family court and apply for a contact order, which would be sympathetically treated. If the application is opposed, there must be strong arguments why it is not in the interests of the children to know their grandparents. When they reach an age to know their on minds their views will be taken into account as a major factor.
