if my partners 11year old son decides that he wants to live with his dad and i (rather than his mum) are there any legal issues that need to be cleared up?( His mum would be very willing for him to be with us)

Make sure the child benefit office know your stepson will be living with you permanently. His mum should notify them as she is currently receiving the benefit, but all you need to do is get a form from the post office :o)

You may wish to get a residency order drawn up through the courts, but if it is all amicable it shouldn't really matter..may be wise to be on the safe side..worth looking into!

thanks for that pippa.We do hope that he chooses to be with us but would never put pressure on him (his mums telling him to hurry up and make his mind up!) I could call her lots of nasty names but dont want this post to be zapped.

I call Mr P's ex Osama Bin Laden..and that's one of the nicer names!
