A relative of mine who is from the UK but lived in Zimbabwe for many years has passed away and I am due to inherit his property and some cash around 5000 in local currency. I was wondering if I would be able to sell the property and bring any of the cash over to the UK with the country being so volatile at the moment? Can I even get the cash out of the country? If I can what are the Tax implications?
Many Thanks

I don't think you would legally be able to get anything out and I suggest you don't even ask the Zimbabwe authorities and draw attention to it. The other problem is that inflation is so bad that you would probably need a suitcase or two to put the equivalent of the Sterling amount of Zim$ !
I suggest you contact a lawyer in Johannesburg (S.Africa) and ask them, as they normally have a pretty good understanding of what goes on next door so to speak. Perhaps if they could convert it first to SA Rand then you would stand a better chance of a "normal" transaction.
