I have made my own will and legally signed etc - however at the moment I am extremely very disappointed at one of my family that I want to cut him out of the will.

Without upsetting the whole will is there any way I can get him out of it

Even an appendix codicil would have to be witnessed, JJ

thanks for the answers - will see what I can do or think of. Bloody empty vessel for an excuse of a man - don't want anything to do with him.
I don't see why getting witnesses to sign either a will or a codicil should really be a problem. The witnesses don't have to see the content of your will. Indeed, they don't even need to know that the document that you're signing is a will. They simply have to confirm that they saw you sign it.

My current will was witnessed by a couple of mates sitting with me in a pub garden. The previous version was witnessed by a couple of strangers, who I happened to be working with that day, in a Tesco car park! Any two adults can do the job for you as long as they're not beneficiaries of your will.

(It's best if the witnesses print their names and addresses below their signatures, so that they can be traced if there are any queries about the authenticity of your signature. However your will remains valid even if they can't be traced because, say, they die before you do).

chris - I know what you are saying and I did get my neighbours to sign - twice as I had changed it but you know - they sorta want to know what they were signing for ie signatures are important.

I can get another two neighbours but right now the way I'm feeling I'll leave it for a day or week or so.
oh I had:
when you asked me to witness your will - you "knew" you had cancer
and I said yes

getting two men in a room is usually a party and will be remembered.... and THAT apparently is why the rule has suvived from 1837
