do the railway in summer, Bobbi - even then you get some permafrost by the tracks in Siberia. In winter you'd probably spend the whole trip in darkness.

More realistically though, I'm considering booking a few day's break in either Malta (because it's a beautiful country that has fond memories for me) or Madrid (because I loved it so much the last time I spent a few nights there).

Been there, Chris....very gaudy as one would expect of the Chinese but amazing - and very cold. The hotel was total crap - the food interesting as there are Russian restaurants in the city - and onion-buildings too!
