are being used to transport people left stranded by the flooding, surely after one caught fire recently they shouldn't be used.

One caught fire, but i imagine the rest are welcome rescue vehicles under the circumstances.
Maybe they are better than nothing? Cars and other vehicles catch fire all the time although their are obviously less duck tour boats than other vehicles.
There ^ (doh)
Would that apply to anything that has ever caught on fire then!
So one caught fire. Just one. What do you suggest as an alternative?
I would have thought the propensity to burst into flame
would allow people to know where they were - sort of smoke signals like ...
On the plus side, plenty of water to put out any potential fire.

seeing one on fire in the Thames recently i wouldn't fancy my chances.
surely we have emergency services that can do better than this.
Question Author
I believe the emergency services were quite stretched at the time.
People are pitching in, doing their bit, spirit of the blitz and all that. The emergency services have got to be stretched pretty thin at the moment.
So, if your house was flooded and the powers that be told you that they were coming to rescue very soon via a Duck Tour boat- would you refuse their services because one caught fire on the Thames a while ago?
I heard a plane crashed once, so better not try airlifting them to safety?
Given the option of that or swimming in the sewage filled water, I'd take my chance on one.
Question Author
RNLI, army, fire brigade, and i know they are pretty stretched, but i wouldn't trust my life to one of these vessels,
I'm afraid the spirit that prevailed in 1940 has long left the country.
Funny - I was just going to say what jno said - I am going on holiday tomorrow but I have heard that a plane crashed once - maybe I shouldn`t go.
Question Author
as i have pointed out, if you care to ignore it fine, more than one, and if people had been burned to death, or drowned would that make it less acceptable.
Emmie, never go in an Astra then - we had one that caught fire. Oh, and houses, they are buggers for catching fire too. And fire engines and ambulances crash all the time and police cars. We're all doomed!
Shall we do a risk assessment?
