General Question On House Selling

What is the usual amount a solicitor would charge for selling a house. Straight forward cash buyer. Have just sold my father in law's house and I was wondering what a normal charge, if there is one, was. Manynthanks.

Below is a newspaper article discussing this question. It depends on many factors like area you live in , whether a mortgage is involved etc. Last year I went through a straightforward sale and was charged £480.

you can ring up and ask

and for property transfer I used licensed conveyancers which is all that they do.
A straightforward sale would be as stated around £500 +VAT, most lawyers only use a solicitor.
