Steam Cleaner Recommendation

I have a modest sized kitchen and bathroom on different levels (underfloor heating in both) - the bathroom is not a problem but the kitchen gets a lot of traffic - humans, dogs, cats plus don't ask cos you don't want to know but it involves tortoise/ chickens/dirty boots etc! - the kitchen floor has large tiles about 18"x12" with a random pitted surface - I think the surface is synthetic but it looks like stone. When I wash it with a mop, dirty water holds in the pitted surface (it looks like a pumice stone) - it looks as though it needs a brush to clean it properly. I had thought of a steam cleaner and would be grateful if any ABers had experience of these. Or any other suggestions! Thank you

I have the vax bare floor steam cleaner 89.99, when I got it it did not work very well, the steam would not come out very well, and the handle kept rumbling in my hand, I got in touch with vax as there is a 2 year guarantee, they sent another one straight out, after filling a form, in the mean time I got so fed up with faulty one I turned the mop upside down and used it as a machine gun, and it started to work, (i think it was an air lock) so I have now got a spare, just in case, the mop is good but sometimes floods the floor if you turn the disinfectant container on high traffic,

I have a polti steam cleaner which cleans just about everything possible, including floors. I've had it for about 20 years and it has been one of my better household gadgets, though I will admit I seldom use it to clean the floors. I have however used it for defrosting freezers, and stripping wallpaper!

Agree nungate ,they are brilliant for defrosting freezers and so fast.
