We have got a leak in our spare bedroom that is coming in from the chimney (we think). We have pulled the wallpaper off about 3 weeks ago & water poured out! Every time it rains water is coming in and runs down the wall!
I have rung 'More Than' Insurance to make a claim and they have asked me to provide 'a date' that is started leaking! Apparently they check the weather.
They have put the claim on hold until I ring them back with a date....I'm not sure the exact date as its wet most days as it always raining!

Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks.

If it's wear and tear it is unlikely to be covered. If it was caused by storm damage it'll be covered. They have weather records of dates when conditions met the criteria for a storm
I think you are going to discover that they tell you this is a maintenance issue and is not something that is covered by buildings insurance. Most typically the flashing has failed between the chimney and the roof covering.
The water could have been coming in for longer than the 3 weeks.

google weather over the past 6 weeks in your area.
if you put a claim in and it is rejected do you lose any no claims bonus?
