Do all Maltese birth certificates have the time of birth on them normally, or is it just put on because of multiple births? I have recently heard in UK only the time of birth is added to the birth certificate when there is more than one baby born. I have a Maltese birth certificate with the date and time on it.

Every birth certificate I have seen has the time on it - I;ve just checked Mine, husbands and two kids....all have the time on - and that's in Scotland.

says....

"Is the time of birth included on the certificate?

The time of birth is not usually recorded. The exceptions to this are for twin births, and some Scottish registrations. Please note that where the time is not recorded, we are unable to provide this. The only place this may be recorded would be on medical records to which we do not have access."
Mine certainly doesn't but it was issued way back in 1949 so things might have been different then. It actually has a red penny stamp on with a portrait of George VI to show that the stamp duty had been paid, as was the norm for official documents in those days.
There is no time on mine or on any of the kids birth certs
well, you learn something new every day :o)

I just presumed that everyone had the times on.
me 9.15 am, Mr A 4.15am, No 1 son 6.01am and No 2 son, 9.26am - I remember being surprised that babies are ever born in the afternoon, I thought that they were all born in the morning :o)
I have a friend in Malta, do you want me to ask her?
In Scotland you get a lot more information on birth certificates

No time on mine in 1951 and no times on any of my kids certificates,1976 to 1987. I have never heard of the time being on the certificate even for twins .
The date is the only thing that has any legal significance.
Same as MrsO, never heard of the time being on actually.
jinie- I've had a trawl of the internet and can't find any info :o(

Manjo - yes you do - you get two versions, a short one and a full one. In days past, you only got the short one of there was no named father - when they introduced that as standard somewhere between my elder brother and me, my mum paid for the full one for me as she didn't want me to be different from the rest of my brothers and sisters. I paid for the full ones for my kids too at her insistence........I think she saw the short ones as having a stigma attached!!
....but even the short versions have the time on.
In those days a short birth certificate was an almost certain sign of illegitimacy which even in the 50s had a great stigma attached to it.
