Theres a film and a song about the world ending in 2012. There has been no news about it but everyone seems to talk about it. they say it was carved onto the walls by cavemen, who also predicted 9.11 and the volcano in pompeii. But is it only a lie?

No news about it? There has been a huge amount about it in past months!

It's the end of the Mayan calendar in December 2012 - there have been lots of discussions on here previously about this - but it doesn't predict the end of the world. It is merely the end of one long calendar, and the start of the next era.

Our own calendar finished last night for 2011, but we didn't all fall off the world, we started the new one straight away. Same thing.

it depends on who's interpretation of various predictions you believe I suppose, some people say that nostradamus accurately predicted hitler, but others say he didnt.

It isn't a "lie" just idle speculation.

I wouldn't worry too much morven, for the 50 or so years I can remember the world has been ending at least once a year. As sandy says it ends every day for of lots people but the old mud ball keeps on spinning round.

You lot listen to too much media spin and watch too many poorly made documentaries and films. The reality is that the Mayans never once mentioned about an end of the world. It was all about it being an end of a period of time much like the end of the calendar hanging up in your kitchen. Another example would be, the start of a new Chinese year (ie Rabbit last year and dragon this year).

Take it from someone that studied them and their culture for 4 years and went to the Americas several times, the 2012 apocalypse was started by rumour mongers which others feed off of like parasites.
