Mail not arrived

I don't know if this is the correct section or not.
My regular postman, who is an absolute gem, was on holiday in July.
His replacement, whom I never saw as he came at different times, just flung the mail onto the floor in the porch, even though there is a box clearly marked mail/post just inside the door.
That didn't bother me too much, but my bank statement for June, due approximately 10 July, did not arrive, nor did a letter with a bank PIN number posted on 5 July (luckily, a different account).
I checked with the bank, and both letters were posted.
I don't suppose there is much I can do, is there? I have heard dire tales of people falling into black holes when trying to deal with Royal Mail.

You could write a letter to your local sorting office, praising your normal postman and saying how much you missed him. The relief would not know the round and is often done on overtime - so delivery times can vary.
As to your lost letters - cannot bank send them again - cancelling any previously sent info?

OK, point one is that IF it was a relief, if you have other arrangements than a letterbox as most people have, then he may not have seen where the box was. I know it sounds silly, as YOU know where it is, but to a postman delivering to addresses they don't know, just WHERE you want the mail isn't obvious.

Point two even if it was obvious, the legal requirement is to deliver the mail to the boundary of the address, and that was done. Strictly speaking, post people are not obliged to deliver if delivering means entering the property in any fashion. This is for health and safety issues as they are only insured or covered for accidents etc IF they comply with regulations. I've had a situation myself when I went sick after putting my back out whilst in a porch and told in no uncertain terms it was my fault because I went into it.

Regarding the missing letters, this could be a genuine mistake rather than anything sinister. Whatever the chances of trying to find out for ordinary mail are non existent.

I'm a bit suspicious of our postman - he signs for recorded items himself and recently neither the gas bill or the reminder showed up (or a letter from the dentist). He scrumples the post up and shoves it through the letter box. The relief postman is great - even delivering mail addressed to the house we lived in two years ago.
