I was "done" by the council car with the camera on the roof in December 2009. I`ve just found out from the shop owner where it happened that the local council has paid out a fortune to people who were caught due to it being illegal. The trouble is, I only keep my bank statements for a year and haven`t any proof. I think I paid over the internet. I seem to remember someone on here saying they were challenging their council over the same thing. I just wondered if anyone can shed any light. Do you think the council would cough up with my reference no or can you get old bank statements from your bank?

Brilliant. I`ll have a look into that.
Not sure if this is correct but I did read somewhere that if you have already paid the fine rather than contest it before paying, they won't entertain refunding you. As I say though, I could be wrong. Good luck with it though as they should not be doing such things as I found out being caught in the same way and received compensation for it too before I paid.

Thanks daisya. It`s not a dispute of the fact that I was parking where I did. The dispute arose because someone has challenged the council over the car with the camera on the roof and the council has had to refund loads of fines that people paid apparently. When you are done by the car with the camera, there is no ticket on the windscreen. I notice there are traffic wardens back in that area now so there must be some truth in the demise of the dreaded camera car.
Well SJ it was the same as mine well in the fact that there was no ticket because it was a camera car. However, there was a blue badge in my car at the time as I was parked on a single yellow line, but the camera did not picture the badge nor did the occupant(s) see the badge which meant that I was parked legally but they assumed I wasn't. Guess that's different but still the anomolies that can happen because they judge from a picture without anyone actually seeing the whole situation.
try google there are some items on there that might be of intrest to you

Thanks DrFilth. What a surprise, the very same council! The only trouble is, I think mine was 2008 and not 2009 after all. I need to double check though as I had a friend staying with me at the time so she might remember. Even if it`s 2008 there`s nothing wrong with looking into it further.
