Hi wondering if anyone could help me out. A year and a half ago I got an astra on HP, put £1000 deposit down traded a car in and payed over the last year and a half, cars on a 3 year finance so i know i have paid half off. I know I am able to hand this car back to the finance company (Peugeot) but my question is if i hand my car back to them can I then ask them to finance another car? I have been told I can but still am not 100%? I tryed trading my astra in for a new car but got knocked back for finance even though I havent missed any payments on the car, I put it down to the fact I already had a car on HP and it looked like it was unafordable. Basically can I hand my car back and guarantee they will then finance me for another car, cause I dont want to go handing it back and then being carless!! Any help would be great thanks

i handed my car back earlier this year. They don't like you doing it (even though it's one of the options!) and will make a note on your credit file (not that you've defaulted, just that you ended the agreement early)
Anyway, i got the new finance agreement BEFORE i finished the other one.
you cannot guarantee anyone will give you finance (ever)
I've handed back cars on Finance three times. The finance companies can see your history and you can find it difficult to get Finance again (I know I did) if you hand cars back.

does the car have to be in the same condition i got it in?
They expect fair wear and tear. I always had a few scratches but never heard a thing back from the finance companies once i handed the cars back.
when i handed mine back they sent me a booklet stating the condition they would like it in (how big scuffs and scratches could be to be acceptable. It also had to be up to date with the servicing.
I had to pay an extra £130 bwecause there was a scuff than was bigger than the accepted minimujm
