hi sara i should of given more detail they admit its an error on their part but wont pay them until november , however this is money thAt is owed from aug and now sept.
Also on their.
wage slips it does not tell you hours worked contacted or overtime, just annual salary what is payed and tax ect, seems weird to me!!
No he is not in a union. Surely if they are owed this money it should be payed immediatley??? Some of our direct debits have not been payed because of this !!!
it's going to depend on the type and size of company. for me (a large Gov't Dept) they can't pay between paydays.

I can't see why this has to wait til November. I suggest he presents any bank charges that are related to this, and that they pay the extra.

are the company in financial difficulties?

*what lenghth of time do they need to pay up?
There is no legal right to be paid for overtime at all so the legality of it will depend on what it says regarding overtime pay in his contract.
"There is no legal right to be paid for overtime at all "

So Chuck are you saying that employers could ask / tell / force someone to work for free?
if it says so in your contract then yes. It does in mine! :(

If it's a large firm they'll probably have the legalities covered...

It's also very unlikely you'd a get a firm to do a mid month adjustment on the wages.
Many firms do make adjustments mid month.

The company I currently work for sorts the problem by giving you an instant advance. They then reclaim that advance in the next pay slip, at the same time as paying the arrears.

I would suggest he goes in person (if possible) to the wages department, and makes a polite nuisance of himself auntil a solution is found.
