I have a ongoing issue with eon, regarding my late mums electric bill, due to her not letting anyone in to get a accurate meter readings, when a appointment was made for the engineer to call,he didnt turn up,i was told that it had been cancelled,by one of eon customer care peeps,i didnt cancel the appt, and another was arranged on my behalf, since then its been a total farce,i have lodged a complaint sometime ago, which they have acknowledged,i am now dealing with a lady from the company,i have had to use email, rather than speaking on the phone,as i sometimes out when she calls,i cant get back to her,as its a universal number, and i cant guarantee that she will be at work, its pointless explaining the situation to someone else all the time, was with engineer last friday, who stated that he wasnt giving eon anymore information, that i had already given, meter readings and meter serial numbers,i emailed eon last friday, still no response as yet, this started at the end february and its now august...

right
sorry poodi, thats quite confusing
the engineer you were with, was he an employe of EON reading the meter?
Question Author
Actually he was from another energy company, apparently they dont have their own engineers, sorry if its confusing its rather long winded...
Question Author
Their is a oustanding bill of £480 to be settled, sorry....
1) Have you now settled the bill correctly but wish to complain about the service received?
2) Not settled the bill because the meter still isn't read?
3) None of the above.

It isn't clear what the problem is.
but what are you trying to get? a final bill? Is the property empty? ask for the enginineer to call you when on way to appointment to ensure you are there.
I'm not sure I've followed this. Are you simply trying to provide them with an accurate up to date reading, because I'm sure there's a mechanism for doing this?
Ah! So you agree the bill ties back to the meter readings and hence the electricity used, but object to the way it was handled? - and hence feel you are due some sort of compensation?
hi poodi, i don't really understand what you want - is there a question here? If you are dealing with the same person's direct email address, i don't think it's unreasonable she hasn't contacted you sonce your email - perhaps she is on holiday, only works evenings or something?
As this is in law, are you wanting to know what legal actions to take? You don't make it clear what the actual problem is - is it that they are sending a bill you don't want to pay; they can't give you a bill because they don't have the reading or what?

No not settled the bill yet,my mums estate is due to be wound up soon,so need to get this sorted out, didnt think it would take this long, solictor needs all outstanding bills settled, before the estate is shared out, firstly my sister gave them the information they wanted, then i got the serial numbers of the meters and gave them that, and last friday engineer called and he took eactly the same imformation,as i said awaiting them getting back to me,i have a feeling that possibly my mum is owed money by eon...
last friday is less than 1 working day ago, i think you are being somewhat impatient!
Question Author
I put in law,as i dont know where to go with this problem, maybe speak to my solictor if this isnt resolved asap..
Question Author
bedknobs, i have been more than tolerant...
It generally takes about 3 days after the meter readings to get the bill back. Then you will know the position.
Really don't know why this became such a long saga - usually they are happy to be told the meter readings by the customer (or the customer's representative), then base the bil on those.
Sorry, didn't spot that it was your late mum's bill ( I think I read it as a late bill for your mum, sorry).
I'm not sure why it has taken so long to close an account and get final readings but it seems to be in hand now.
Presumably the property has been disposed of so no more energy will be used and it is a definite final reading.
I don't think you'll get compensation, if that's what you want but an apology would be welcomed I guess.

I met up with the engineer on the 23th of july, looked at my diary
ok, so i think the problem is this:
the estate needs to pay all final debts before the beneficiaries can get their share. You just need a final bill from EON, which the estate will pay. You/your sister gave them a meter reading in February (although i assume more electricity has been used since then). However, they wanted to send someone to take the final readings, and the appointments got messed up. They now have the readings (from their representative) and should be preparing the final bill from these readings. Again, it seems a little too muchexpectation to recieve the readings on friday and expect the bill on Monday
Engineers design stuff
Technicians repair stuff
Meter readers take meter readings - and it probably requires a grade 'C' at GCSE.
Question Author
Got a letter here, saying that the metering imformation, does not match that on their account,so thats why i had the engineer come out,its been a nightmare getting this resolved, the chap who has bought the house isnt going with eon thank goodness..
