I currently live with my daughter in a house that I have a mortgage on. Recently my daughter fell pregnant and would like to set up home with her boyfriend.
I will shortly be moving in with my partner and had planned to rent my house out anyway. If I rent my house to my daughter and her boyfriend, would it be possible for them to claim housing benefit as he is on a low income?
I am not looking to scam the benefit system, but will get a tennant I can trust, and my daughter will benefit from a furnished, decorated house and not having to find the money for a deposit.

i meant the funding offspring comment because many feel that if you provide housing to your adult children, you somehow shouldnt expect to be paid for it...simply because you are related - why are they expected to not accept rent for a proeprty that presumably they own in order to rent it out - why is it fraudulent if they don't rent to a stranger?
i dont see a relevance in relationship - they would have to pay rent wherever they live anyway, so why not to them?

i could go an live elswhere and pay them, and let someone else live in my house n pay my dad - but i like the added security of knowing that my dad is my landlord, so why should i?
Well i know someone doing it, claiming £700 a month for the house and her father gives the money back to her in holidays each year, 5 holidays abroad last year on benefits. Fantastic waste of tax payers money. I know there are genuine people out there but people like this girl spoil it for those who ar honest. So it can be done, but scammers too lazy to work and those getting back handers look out.
