You can use any name you like actually. And it's not difficult to legally change it either.

The Deed Poll company is out to make money. If a decree absolute issued by a court is not evidence why should their bit of paper be better? A deed poll is simply your statement that henceforth you wish to be known by whatever name you put on it.You could put Mickey Mouse or Lana Turner or Red Rum on it and it would still be deed poll . The deed poll in itself is of absolutely no legal effect whatsoever. It's just evidence that at some time you had the notion that you'd like to be called by a certain name. What matters in law is what people use as your name, how you are known to the world, not what's on a deed poll, however much you pay for it. If you revert to your maiden name and people, as they will, then call you by that instead, that is sufficient in law and all that matters
I thought you could use your maiden name whether you are married, divorced or otherwise, many women continue to use their family name after they're married.
