Hi, I am a trainee solicitor who is due to give evidence for the prosecution in a possession of a class A drugs case.

If, when I am giving my evidence and being cross examined by the defence barrister, they ask me if I have ever used drugs in the past I would have to say yes. Will this drop me in the crapper?

I need to know how common it is for the police to pull out the old past possession charge, i know they did with Boy George in 1986 and he was convicted!!

Also, do I have to give evidence? I've never really studied the criminal side of the law so any help appreciated.

Many thanks.
