Hi All
My common law partner's wife died 13 years ago. She had 2 children from her first marriage now in mid 20's and grandchildren. We were together for 7 years and had a child together. I am now trying to obtain monies from his pension scheme for our child. the trustees have said that they need to ascertain that there are no other peoples entitled to his pension. can you adise whether his ex wife's grown up children or her grandchildren are entitled to his pension.

It depends on the rules of the pension scheme, but they normally limit entitlement to the spouse or partner. If this is the case, then the children/grandchildren would not qualify.
