Are they executors too? Are you the only executor?
Has the testator passed away? If not, you've no right to view the will until they do. (You don't even have to know that it exists although, obviously, it makes sense for you to do so).

If the testator has passed away then you must have access to the will (or, at least, a copy of it) in order for you to carry out your duties. If the solicitor you refer to is also an executor then it wouldn't be unreasonable of him/her to simply provide you with a photocopy of the will. If he/she is not also an executor then the will should be handed to you (or to another executor).

chris I bet the back story is that the solicitor IS an executor and wants to do it all himself and charge ....

and in this case - what rights do the co-executor have ?

once probate is granted the will is in the public domain and she can apply to the registry where the probate bods are
