Hi, my daughter recently left her partner and the
house they rented together. He will also shortly be leaving the property and my daughter would like to know if she has the right to claim her half of the deposit she paid. Shes left with little from the 4yr relationship and could really use the money. Thank you very much for any help you can offer

yes of course it is hers. She might have to show she paid - cheque of whatever and it would be easier if the deposit were made in their joint names

I would think so..why not?
She should speak to the agency or landlord, and ask them/him/her to send her half to her directly.

It depends who is the 'lead' tenant. Deposits are returned to the lead tenants via the Deposit Protection Service.
Yes, of course she should claim her 50% of the deposit, the problem will be if she does not receive it as the amounts involved are probably not worth her while taking action, but claim away.

Thank you all very much, shes feeling a bit more confident about it now. It would be much easier if she wasnt up here and the letting agents down south as shes notified them but theyve not replied to phone calls or e mails but it is in their joint names so she should be ok.Thank ypu again.
