my sons are teenagers (adults in the eyes of the law)

We haven't made a will but I so do not want a family member to get her mitts on my sons. She has already had had stab at one of them,
The house goes to them anyway which was stated 7 years ago.
I suppose a will would state what we don't want to happen. What can be done to make sure this can be evoked as we won't be here??

Its worrying isn't it? I hope someone on here can give you the advise you need. One thing I am doing tomorrow is sorting out my life assurance.
nothing can make sure. But if your sons are adults they can make their own choices
I`m not an expert but can you go to a lawyer and get the estate left in trust?

Thank you both. I know nothing is sure in this life (or thereafter!)

They seem to be sensible young men, although I have posted that they drive me nuts.I s'po9se no point in worrying as I won't be here.
By the way, I don`t want to preach but your situation sounds exactly like the reason that you should make a will.

yep thank you 27I've been saying that to my OH for ages.

I'll show him this tomorrow. I'll make a will, I've got to, as it would make my pension fund clearer.

The above site has a good flow chart which if you click on will open up and you can enlarge. It details exactly what happens to your estate if you do not have a Will. Another important reason to make one is to appoint an executor, if your sons are not ready to deal with letters of administration and the person you do not want involved is a family member they could apply for the administration ending up with the situation you are trying to avoid.
