I am in the British Army and I signed off in oct 04 having to give a years notice this means I will be out oct 05 however I have just found out I am pregnant which is great news but has come as a suprise it means I will of just left the Army by the time the baby is born, does anyone know if I would be entitled to any maternity pay from them or if not then any other type of benefits I may be entitled to.

Unfortunately I don't know but you could try ACAS or a law centre (ask your CAB to direct you to one).  If you are overseas, you can look at the ACAS website which should be acas.org.uk.

I work in payroll and as far as I know you are entitled to maternity pay from your employer as you will still be employed when you begin your maternity leave. Check out these websites for more information

tiger.gov.uk

acas.org.uk

maternityalliance.org.uk

Hope this helps, good luck with the baby.

I disagree with Icklepickle.I think the difficulty is going to be the fact that you have already given notice to terminate your employment, and you already have a date of when you leave the Army.I would still seek proffessional advise though.Good luck, and I hope everything goes well.
