I have been lurking around the site this afternoon reading anything 'interesting'.

Three times I have read answers from you where you have said that you worked in a certain field of work.

I know that once upon a time you were a teacher, a will writer and now a car dealership. There was another thread that I read earlier today where you worked somewhere for 5 years.

As somebody who joined the civil service at the age of 17 and worked for 25 years until my health fell apart (and my father worked as a train driver for 41 years) i think that your CV should be amazing reading.

Hi ☺☺ Susan ☺☺......I have great respect for Buenchico and, like you, I think his CV would make amazing reading.

Perhaps we'll have to wait for his autobiography to be published. I don't think he would need a ghost writer. ( lol Chris.)

Ron
There's a lot of multi-tasking involved, Susan.

For example I spent today driving a parts van for a car dealership. But it's only casual work (although I've only had a few days without work so far this year), so I do other work as well. This evening I've been phoning all the contractors I'm currently supervising with the local distribution of Yellow Pages. (At other times of the year I work at a more senior level, supervising other team leaders as well as team leading contractors). I'm also considering working as a deliverer for the forthcoming distribution of the Thomson Local directory but I'm really hoping that some work will be coming up with the firm that I supervise traffic surveys for.

There's been plenty of multi-tasking in the past as well. While I was working, on a 'commission only' basis, as a rates advisor I supplemented my income by working behind the bar of one pub on Sundays, while working as weekend bar manager in another on Friday and Saturday nights and managing a local sports club bar during the rest of my (so-called) free time.

When I was still at school I started writing sports reports for the local rag. They were initially unpaid but I started getting a few quid after a while. Since then I've done quite a bit of writing (and made some money from it), mainly for magazines and technical journals. However it's always been 'part time' in addition to whatever else I've been doing at the time, so it's yet another example of 'multi-tasking'.

At various other times I've dabbled in the antiques trade (by buying items at auction and then selling them through a friend who sold at antiques fairs), worked as a relief presenter for BBC local radio and several other things.

However my 'full-time' c.v. basically includes teaching, will drafting, 'trade plating' (delivering vehicles to auction) and running a railway station. Everything else is an 'add on'.

Chris
Hello my Suffolk buddy.

Not seen you around much Chris, just wanted to say "hello" and hope you are Ok.

Sorry wolf - and yes I agree, Chris' CV is amazing!
Good evening, Barmaid.

Yes I'm well, thank you. (I hope you are too).

Actually I thought that it was you, rather than me, who had 'gone missing' recently! (I did see your question about adoption but I couldn't contribute anything useful). Perhaps it's just that I've been getting up early (for that driving job) quite often recently, so I've not been around for the late-night mayhem ;-)
you're right, I've not been around as much. I seem to be doing back to back court days which now means long hours in the car and early nights! Otherwise, yes I am well thanks.

You jumped into my head when I was stuck on the A14 at Stowmarket yesterday morning!

"Running a railway station" - isn't that a little boys dream next to being a choo-choo driver? The fat controller springs to mind.

It is so nice to have a thread with four people having a normal chat and no fighting, threats or confusion and mayhem.

I last worked on 30/31 October 2003 and was medically retired due to being bipolar. Currently I am a volunteer in an Oxfam bookshop (great fun) and the slave to two ungrateful feline siblings - a boy and a girl. Frankie is asthmatic and needs his inhaler twice a day and his sister, Princess Merlin, is the stoooopidest cat in the world.
lol wolf, I'll challenge you on the fact that Princess Merlin is the stoopidest cat in the world since I think ASBO would give her a run for her money!

His current favourite thing to do is wander down the lake first thing in the morning and annoy the hell out of the geese. It's SO funny when he comes belting back to the house with about 12 geese hissing and flapping their wings at him. You would think after doing that four mornings on the trot he would have worked out that a) they don't like him b) there are more of them than him c) they are a whole lot bigger and nastier and d) he can't swim; they can! Nah.
Barmaid:
You've no need to worry when other ABers jump into your head while you're stuck in traffic on the A14. It's when we jump into your car that you need to start worrying ;-)

Wolf:
I could never work in an Oxfam bookshop. It's not that I've got anything against Oxfam; it's just that I'd spend all of my time reading and never get any work done! (Charity shops and secondhand bookshops are two of my favourite places)
lol Chris, you'll have a job! The passenger seat is normally piled high with books, papers and rubbish. The BF jokes that when the roof is down, all he needs do is nick the wheels and paint it yellow and he has a skip!
How come wolf63, you now appear to be the author of the posting which originated from☺☺ Susan ☺☺.

It's come up on my screen as 'Question Author' and highlighted with your name.

Perhaps it's something to do with AB who have been tweaking things during the last hour.

Nevertheless, I agree with your sentiments.....it is nice to have friendly conversations in AB.

Ron
Good evening, Ron.

Look again and you'll see that Wolf63 posted the original question but added her 'signature' (☺☺ Susan ☺☺ ) at the end of it.

Chris - our bookshop is special. A million pounds worth of jewellery was stolen from a customer last summer, he 'says' that he put the case of jewels on the floor so that he could flick through the shelves for a book.

Barmaid - maybe ASBO is Merlin's long lost cousin. Have you read the books by Chris Pascoe? His cat, Brum, had many hilarious adventures.
Question Author
I am Susan and wolf - just stuck the smiley faces in because I remembered how to do them.
I haven't Wolf, but I will keep an eye open.

Whilst I was unpacking some boxes the other night (yes I know I've been moved house 6 months!) I found a book called "One hundred ways for a cat to train its human". Had me in stitches.
I now see the whole picture.....A wolf in ☺☺ Susan ☺☺ clothing.......Sorry folks I just couldn't resist it.......Please don't report me for being offensive...just ignore my often silly humour.

Ron
Question Author
Ron - it is pretty hard to offend me.

Barmaid - ASBO sounds like a fun cat to have around. Maybe he has a little part-time job exercising the geese. Or maybe he wants them to back him up in an all out war against the cats next door.

My two are indoor cats and not at all street wise. Frankie's current 'trick' is to wake me up by combing my longish hair with his paws and claws. Merlin runs around the flat during the night screaming 'wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' - up and down my stairs like a baby elephant (we have two floors).

I am 46 and have never been broody or wanted children - but my cats mean everything to me. Frankie's first major asthma attack happened when my mental health was a tad shaky = bad combination.

I think that it is time to toddle off to bed - or will I just get under the duvet and switch the MacBook on?

Good night all - have a nice weekend.
Hi Susan....Am I interesting????Worked on a farm in Fillongley for 4 years, pick and shovelled coal out of Arley pit and Griff No. 10 for a couple more,4 years driving in the RAF, couple spent driving lorries around the country,Bit more time at the Dunlop Rim and Wheel in Coventry polishing bike wheels,a couple of years in the machine shop at Jaguar,A couple more at Browns Lane pedal bodging,Selling Cash Registers round the shops for Gross Cash Registers, Couple of years selling central heating round the houses for the Gas Board opening and owning a shoe shop at the same time....and a second hand shop! converting cash registers to decimal in my own business,Buying and running a newsagents shop in Nuneaton for 5 years....Buying and running Praa Sands Post Office in Cornwall for 12 months....A newsagents or two in Spon End for a few more years...RETIREMENT....bad back, operation...bad back.... Tas been a boring old life really.....
Question Author
johntywino - decimalisation ? I think that happened in 1971 - so you are over 40?!

I'm one of those boring people who needs security when it comes to employment - but I am sure that, in her earlier days, my late mother might have had more jobs that both you and buenchico added together.

It is interesting to see what others have done during their life.
It was February 15th 1971 to be exact! I was DEFINITELY under 40 then, but only by a couple of years.....seems like only yesterday.... john
Question Author
1971 - I was in primary 3 which would make me about 7 or 8 ish. I was lucky that I did not get taught about 'old money' - it would have been much too confusing.
