legal break entitlement for a 40 hour week

i've been offered a job of 40 hours but the employer says he's only paying me for 37.5 as i'll be having a half hour lunch break. Can you confirm is this is correct.

I think this has been answered elsewhere. Yes it seems that your working hours are 37.5 hours a week and that's what you are being paid for. So everything seems correct.
