if you are on the dole, an you get one days work somewhere...what will happen with the dole...? are you allowed to earn anything...or will they just take that off you...?

because obviously you are not signing off properly...just a temporary thing...so how does that work...do they just halt the claim or something?

it sjust my friend gets occasional stewarding work, an i was thinking of doing it too...but its scarce work so i couldn't sign off properly, but if i dont get to keep the money...whats the point?

Thanks

Don't tell them , simple answer .
You're allowed to earn 5 a week before it affects your JSA.

I'd phone the Jobcentre (anonymously) to ask what happens if you earn more than that.
If you are a single person, the first 5 of earnings will be ignored, anything above that will come off the weekly benefit. If you are claiming as a couple, you'll be allowed to earn 10.
if you do any work, sign on and fail to declare it you will have made a false declaration, which is a criminal offence.

your choice, but I take people like that to court......
Don't tell anyone on here either !
and don't assume I don't know who you are!
i used to work in a dole office and believe me if you don't declare any work done someone will and drop you in it. A 'friend' or a friend of a ffrind. It's not worth it. Tell them
BillySugger folk paying tax and National Insurance help to pay for State Benefits mind. You may think it a wee bit of a joke working and claiming but if fewer folk did it, there would be more money available for those who deserve it.

sara - get a grip - try to read the question properly.

what is it with this site?
you ask a simple question - you clearly state what you are asking and why - yet some just feel the need to jump in and attack, accuse, lecture, spout off etc etc etc, disregarding what you have actually asked, ...and focusing on one minor aspect of the question!

funnily enough, i was 100% aware that working and claiming dole was illegal...
and funnily enough, I was responding to BillySugger's "advice".. countering that view, if you see what I mean.

you will have a booklet called an ES40, your signing-on document (which you sign to say you've read and understood each time you sign-on), which contains most of the information you should need.

best of luck :o)
You're allowed to earn 89pw before tax & ins.

Cash jobs are for temporary staff and it's the User/employer responsibility to deduct tax and to use/employ suitable staff by registering same with Tax office.
not sure if you'll want my comments re the last post, joko, but earning 89 in a week will wipe out your JSA :o/
for instance, our window cleaner @ 15pw. We take a receipt for our accounts.
I wasn't giving "advice " - just a personal opinion .
I would like to stay & argue but I've got to get to work - check at the bank on the way see if my dole money's gone in yet .

BillySugger - hide from sara......she's onto you ;o)

Does the dole cover internet connexions/broadband/wifi? Wow......am off to dole office!

mmm...so doesn't seem worth all the effort of doing one days hard work...if you only make a few quid extra...

i may perhaps try it on occasion i guess, just for something to do ...but its seems a rigmarole with paper work etc..

ahh well
joko, honestly.. when you sign on you have to fill in an extra form if you've done any work. if you go over a certain number of hours in just one week they can close your claim, so you would have to start over again. casual work is a bit of a pain with benefits, which is why so many don't declare it. but people do get caught, for all sorts of reasons.

stewarding work.. is that at football matches/concerts? it's a well known area for fraud. and I'm not accusing you of anything!
