My daughter has a baby 4 months ago, she had strep b, so had to have a c- section, she was told not to fall pregnant again for 2 years, does anyone know why, is it to do with the scaring, or the strep b? thank you

I don't know why your daughter has been told not to have another baby for 2 years. My daughter had a baby 6 weeks ago and she also had strep b,they didn't forced a caesarean on her but she did have to have a drip with antibiotics going through the whole labour. She was also kept in for 24 hours after the drip was taken down.My daughter hasn't been told not to have another baby for 2 years so it might be because of the scar with your daughter.

ok, thank you for that. Shes just told me thats she missed 2 periods, now i just want to slap the pair of them for being so carless, they are both as bad as each other not taking any precautions, is it unusual for her to have had 2 periods since the birth 4 months ago, then suddenly miss 2?
It can take a while for periods to become regular after having a baby,I would buy her a pregnancy test though just to be sure.
I always thought that if you fall pregnant too quickly after having a c-section then there is a chance that the scar won't hold?

she has done a test which was neg, but that dosn`t mean anything, because she took 6 tests last time which all came back neg, but she was pregnant, and we ended up with a beautiful grandaughter, so they dont always work.
tamirra, perhaps she should see her GP if she is concerned.

the Strep B can be treated so i doubt that has any bearing on the docs saying she needs to wait 2 years. I reckon it will be to do with the c-sect. Thats only advice though, they cant do anything if shehas fallen pregnant again so soon apart from warn her on what effect it could have on the scarring.

Hi, my daughter has made an app with her gp for weds, will let you know what the outcome is. Thankyou
I had a baby 13 months after my first c-section. I was not advised not to have another quickly, but my second was neithet planned nor unplanned - we had fertility problems the first time, so preferrred just to let nature take its course.

I was told that I may need another section, not only for the fact that the scar may not stand up to a delivery, but that the reasons for me needingh asection in the first birth may reoccur - which they did and I had a second section.

The consultant said that she was glad she had done the section as it was apparant during the surgery that they scar would not have held.

If your daughter is pregnant, they will monitor her closely and make a decision nearer the time whether to let her try for a normal delivery or not. They will then keep a close eye on her during the delivery.

I would tell her not to worry, but to prepare herself for the prospect of another section.

My second section was a lot easier than the first as it was planned and was over very quickly - I left hospital after 2 days.

I was asked after the 2nd about whether I was planning any more - which I wasn't!!
