University Maintenance/Bursary/Tuition grant help

My son off to Uni I hope Sept/Oct 2008. I am single parent at present. IF i got married to my partner who at present does not live with me or I started living with him unmarried I know his income would be involved on how much my son would be entitled too. If my partner was by then retired does his retirement income get taken into consideration the same as a normal working income would be? Thanks in advance.

hello, I married my partner, he refused to have anything to do with my son, even to reveal his annual income or savings,as all income has to be declared, this made the EMA grant papers difficult to fill out. My son went to live with his grandmother, got some of the grant, and I took on two jobs to help him out. Being married I lost all my benefits. Looking back I realised that he would have got the full grant if I was still a single parent. My son graduated with honours this year, my husband wasn't invited. Good Luck.
