You are not too old to become a teacher, however the length of training will depend on what age and subject you wish to teach and what your degree was in.

No, and they certainly won't turn you away!! Good for you for being up for it! You will need to do a PGCE in either Junior or secondary which is a year long. If I were you I would do some work experience in a local school in the age/subject you are interested in- just lesson observations. This way you will get more familiar with the curriculum, which looks like it's changing now anyway. You could work as a teacher's assistant too. Primary is longer and more involved, you may have to fo a BEd which is what they did in my day, but I doubt it since you have your degree.
Older NQTs are always welcomed but beware as you would probably start on the bottom of the pay scale as it's unlikely you will be given any extra increments for your age or experience. Sad fact of life that schools are strapped for cash and many will pay as little as possible.
I suggest you look into the GTP route - more suitable for the more mature trainee and you earn whilst learning. However I must say why on earth anyone would want to go into teaching is beyond me - they don't deserve a QTS qualification they deserve a sainthood!!
