plumbing courses - any recommendations?

HI,
I am considering training as a plumber and have found courses at about �1,000 per week. Has anyone found a really good course at a good price that gets you ready to start working in plumbing?

is there not a local college you can go to? I have a friend who went to college and now has his own plumbing and maintainance business.
pretty certain you wouldnt have to pay a �1,000 for the privelege!!!!
