As I've got older I hate going out on an evening. Cant be bothered getting done up and making the effort. I'd rather stay at home with a bottle of wine. I dont undertand this as I'm not a miserable person and have lots of friends.
My hubby and I have been invited to an after-wedding bash tonight and I really dont want to go.
Whats wrong with me ?!

Nothings wrong with you lainiej :o)
I'm exactly the same, I'd rather stay in on a Fri and Sat night and snuggle with the husband and watch trash TV or a film with a bottle of wine and as a treat we sometimes get a chinese. I'd prefer that over going out anyday. I don;t think I am a miserable person either.
When I was in my early 20's (28 now) I couldn't go out as my husband was ill with kidney failure, so he couldn't drink and was generally just unwell all the time, I felt I was missing out on going out but looking back I think it was the fact I couldn't do it that made me want it even more!!
Got Silent Hill on DVD tonight, so we are looking forward to watching that with a bottle of wine, some beer and some snacks:o)
lol, nothing at all!

i'm exactly the same except I'd rather have a brew than a bottle of wine! I guessed it's just a natural part of getting older? We're married, so therefore don't need to go out on the pull (lol) and we've finally realised that it's far better to curl up on the sofa and watch mindless telly at night than to go out tramping from pub to pub.

No idea about you, but my nights out used to go like this........

Usually freezing as we NEVER EVER wore coats (even when it was minus 10 outside), waiting patiently to be served (usually an overpriced watered down version of your 2nd choice of drink- they ran out of your 1st choice) at the bar by some 18 year old brainless bint who is more than likely flirting with the sweaty oik who's stood next to you stamping on your toes and elbowing you out the way.

Then...........onto the club, where you're left with the quandary of what to do with your handbag if my some miracle they play a song you at least know (never mind like). Do you leave your drink on the table? Will it still be there on your return? Will some evil bu88er have added something to it? Oh God, is that 70's reject boogieing his way in my direction and leering? Time for a quick exit to the loo, 15 minutes later when your bladders on the point of exploding, you finally get into a cubicle. Surprise! there's no loo roll and no lock on the door, so you haveta kinda hover over the seat whilst stretching your hand towards the door hoping you'll be able to close it should someone else attempt to get in it. Wash hands afterwards, oh wow...there's ruddy toilet paper in there (so that's where it went!) sinks blocked, which is nice.

home time- standing outside the club shivering, it's now minus 15, you've got a headache and ya tummy feels iffy. Half hour later a taxi finally pick you up.......... "What???? 20 to go 2 miles up the road?!?!??"

Its all bringing
sorry, cut short in my prime there.........meant to end that with..........

"its all bringing back painful memories"
I'm not married now but to be honest I love just sitting at home on my own. I can watch what I want on telly, listen to the music I want, eat what and when I like. Stay in the bath for hours and cut my toenails in the front room if I like. I might get a cat as I get older as I have caught myself talking to myself sometimes but over all it's bliss

You only need to worry sherry when you have rooms stuffed with cats that you dress like children...............

Oh yes, forgot that memorable part of the night- lol.

Incidentally I once woke up with a pork pie on the pillow next to me, no idea where it came from. I don't like them so didn't have any in the house at the time!!!!
Lol @ Boo! (hi, btw long time no ...errrmmm...see? ) I've just turned 29, so can't really be considered an old f@rt (now there's hoping...) but I don't feel like going out as I used to, and certainly not to clubs, or "trendy" bars that serve overpriced drinks to a crowd of young nymphettes in short skirts with washboard stomachs and an attitude to boot!!! lol
I much rather go to my local pub quiz, drink lager, go home at midnight and pick up a burger on the way home...Alternatively, I'll stay home and watch crap TV with a pack of beers ! Oh boy....better start collecting baby clothes for my future 10 cats....lol
lol, hey max, good to see you girl! :-)

See lainej? Think it' as we get older we see the folly of going out with 50 and coming home with only 20p.
What a fantastic idea... thanks BOO

Phew what a relief !! Any good excuses for missing tonights bun fight ?
I've got cat booties to knit for my 2 moggies !!
BOO thats exactly right.... plus I used to sulk all the way home if I hadnt had the last dance (aka shuffle round and round holding each other up !) with some plastered spotty herbert. And I once discovered the next morning that I'd thrown up in a carrier bag -with air holes in it !
Meet another one who's more than happy to have a quiet relaxing evening at home rather than being out hitting the high spots.
Quite happy to entertain at home, or even to be entertained in a friend's home, but in my opinion, nothing beats a comfortable evening at home. Not tonight though - as we off out to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, so very happy to make an exception for that.!
But now the dark nights are coming, I'm more than contented to barricade the front door when it gets dark and settle for "home and hearth".
Nights in are okay but what do you folks do for occasional fun? My mate and I do a different course every year. We've done everything from from belly dancing to life drawing. I remember one night we turned up for the drawing class and the model was someone I knew. Don't know who was more shocked.

X Factor tonight though. Can't wait.

Congrats to Mrs and Mr WendyS !! HAve a fab night ! x
I do latin American Line Dancing on a Wed eve
Minti, who's to say nights in can't be fun?

Me and hubby are the same as mentioned above. Just can't be bothered with all of what BOO described and we're early 30's. Now a days with all the street brawls going on you have to be careful not to look at someone and they might take offence and you'll spend the rest of the evening in A&E.
Much prefer comforts of home and we socialise with friends at each other's homes

The tale of waking up with the pork pie was hysterical !!
I'm a stay at home too, I used to go to clubs with 'the girls' the girls being all 40 something, and one night I just thought "what AM I doing here" Now if I go out it's to a restaurant and home by 10 !! oh and I've got two cats.........
