I'm thinking of doing one of three courses:
philosophy and politics
philosophy and english literature
classical studies

what exactly can I do with these subjects? I have absolutely no idea what I'd like or want to do as a career, but it would be nice to hear what any graduates are doing with themselves

looking forward to hearing from you

Not having a dig, and its more of a general comment, but I'm always amazed that people do a degree without any idea of what the're going to do with it afterwards.

As an empoyer, I wouldn't get over excited about a degree in philosophy.

Do they not have people at schools these days to help with career choice?
I know two classics graduates: one is a lawyer and the other is a management consultant. You need to consider what transferable skills you would have at the end of your degree and then consider your career options. Aside from perhaps medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, you can enter almost any profession with any degree, provided it is a good degree from a good uni (for instance, I work in law and probably around 40% of the lawyers I know have degrees in subjects other than law).

thanks people, all of that was useful. In response to cascarelli, I enrolled myself into courses which I thought would be interesting, that I'd definately enjoy and would be able to pursue further. My main discipline so far has been philosophy, which I enjoy and I think to be a valid and worthwhile subject. I, again, would feel much better taking up a degree in a subject which I enjoy, I do well in . The only problem I would have in taking up a degree in philosophy/ a philosophy related subject* would be that I'm fuzzy on professions which would take * graduates on. All the same, thanks for those answers!
