how do i become a midwife

i am a 29 yr old mum of 8 an my dream is to be a midwife can any one help me with advice , i have no qualifacations so were do i start please help thank you

Hi, I've given you a link which I hope will be of help to you that my wife's midwife has just suggested. The entry requirement for that appear to be 5 gcse's. If you don't have these there are one year courses to get them at all local colleges. Hope this helps and good luck.

You need to get into some kind of care work, there are a lot of applications for the posts and it is a tough process. Maybe you can get a job as a care assistant and then apply. They really would welcome that background.

hi, I'm exactly like you apart from I'm 35 and have 2 kids, I long to be a midwife and have looked into it. I found out that you can do an Access course for 1 year full-time or 2 years part time. If you pass it is the equalivent to gaining A-Levels, you can then apply for the Midwifery Course which I think is for another 3/4 years. I also heard that it will go in your favour when applying if you come from a care enviroment or have been doing some volunteering at a hospital. I would love to do it, I just can't afford to give up work and study.

.....im not sure but i know nurses get an allowence during training....worth looking into tho.

a friend of mine began training as a nurse at 41...shes all done now and loving it, shes so happy, its unreal....chase ur dream !!!!
