You'll need to work hard to make sure you impress them in your new job to make sure they don't fail your probation or reduce your hours, and also try harder to be flexible and avoid issues with your supervisor- and be lucky to find you enjoy working with your colleagues and managers. With all that you might just make more of a success of it than in your last few roles

Must be something for md

What are you to say about the care home? That they cut your hours, and you needed to find another job.

I'm not the only person to have said this before, Abbey, but lots of people do jobs they don't like or don't enjoy because they have to.

Question Author

Be honest what would you have done if you were me?

About what?

Abbey, I'd have looked for a full-time job as soon as the care home said I wasn't up to the work. I wouldn't have faffed around with a part-time job that I didn't want, in a shop, nor another part-time cleaning job. I wouldn't have dreamed of asking the care home to change things around to suit me.

Scorpio If your hours were cut in your job

Question Author

Neva I really regret it now do I message boss and apologise?

Question Author

What do I say to potential employers about the care home?

Abbey/ I do realise you can post questions on AB but it is now 9 1/2 hours since your first post today and you seem to be going round in circles and really getting nowhere, going over what has been previously discussed.  It has been suggested that you try to do your very best at the new Cleaning concern - perhaps they will award you more hours.  Try to be more positive and not look for faults.  Unless you are very lucky, no job will be absolutely
perfect.

If my hours had been cut, I would have looked for a full-time job, or one that would fit in with my existing commitment(s).

Question Author

It was hard to find one with existing commitment as care home wasn't full day.

Have you ever worked in a shop? I'm sure the supermarkets are looking for staff - you could stock the shelves if you didn't want to work on the tills.

Question Author

Yes few shops and prefer fillin to till

Abbey, it would be good if you could make a go of this cleaning job even though that's not a full-time one (and because it's not full-time, you should surely be able to cope with the workload?) Your other option is to look for full-time work in an area that interests you. And, of course, whatever job you do next, you should try to make a decent go of it!

Question Author

Will this go against me on a reference?

hellywelly- you asked "Have you ever worked in a shop? I'm sure the supermarkets are looking for staff - you could stock the shelves if you didn't want to work on the tills"

abbey recently tried a similar role in Home Bargains for a couple of weeks but didn't like it, took unpaid leave of absence, and then said she wasn't going back

Question Author

I mean like clothes or make up shops think I'd enjoy that.

Thing is new job just said I don't listen which I struggle to concentrate

Question Author

One of the girls in care home said she been there since March and had 5 cleaners leave

Abbey, and...?  I think it's the kind of job where there's quite a high turnover anyway. You have seemed quite happy to work in the care home, the only thing you've mentioned recently was your supervisor being 'a bit off' with you.

Question Author

Last thing I wanted to do was mess them around. I was happy there and I felt left out since they reduced my hours.
