Let's see what the care home boss offers and we'll take it from there.  You have to convince them you can work better and not be under pressure

I, in all honesty, can't see the Care Home management giving you more hours when it was they who decreased your hours because they felt you couldn't cope.

That's why ABBEY needs to think about how she can convince them she can now cope.

When it comes to cleaning, convincing them means getting down to do the hard graft without complaining - there must have been a reason why Management could see Abbey was unable, for one reason or another, to do the job required in the time available.

For a spell, I worked as Social Care Assistant in a Care Home and saw how pushed the cleaners were - they had to work fast to complete the work required.

Abbey, there has to be a reason why your hours were cut.  Are you a slow worker?  Were you not cleaning properly?

B&M stores - you will feel the odd one out in any new job.  Mistakes happen, you need to lear from them.

Do you want to be doing cleaning work and changing jobs every month for the next thirty years?

Do you have qualifications?

Do you want to stay at home forever?D

You should stick at a job for at least six months before leaving.  You don't have to be really happy and enjoy your job.  I

you can't go through the rest of your life like this.

Wolf in one post Abbey said the issue arose when there was an inspection taking place

Abbey did you follow-up my idea of trying to find work at a local kennels?  You do love being with dogs, so it is certainly worth a try.

I don't know where you liveso it may not be the easiest place to reach, but if you enjoy it it is worth extra effort.

So far as the care  home is concerned - prove you can do the job well for a little longer and then ask if you can add a couple of hours.  If that works, ask about adding another couple of hours and so on.

You obviously need to be happy in your work.  You like dogs and you enjoy the care home work.  See if somehow between them you can make enough hours to earn a living.  Do try.

Jourdain, I too suggested to Abbey that perhaps working for a dog rescue centre or  kennels on a wage would be good.  It would help her anxiety too!!

thanks, I must have missed that.

I'm afraid Abbey may find it very hard to get a job at a dog rescue centre or kennels, very hard!  So many people love dogs and want to work with them that jobs are hard to come by I'm sorry to say.  There are more people wanting to look after dogs, than dogs:-)  Of course you may live in an area where that is not the case.  Check it out if you fancy it.

Hi LB

Abbey already works as a volunteer dog walker.  I dont know If you realised that.

Abbey, if you pop into a job centre you may well get advice about training opportunities and they would help find you a job.

Unfortunately a jobcentre will only help with training and looking for a job if you are claiming benefits.

Everyone seems to have dogs in North Norfolk.  I think there are more dogs than people.  My neighbours  now offer boarding for dogs in their home.  Much nicer than kennels!!  Most restaurants are dog friendly here and people take there dogs into work regularly, including our son.  X

It's 36 years since I worked in our local job centre!  I'm somewhat out of touch.  Abbey has said she's not on benefits.

Sorry Lottie, I've forgotten if I ever knew;-)

They had already reduced my hours by the time inspector came in. I just say either put my hours up or I'll have to get a full time one else where
