Son Wanting A Holiday Job Round Detroit Usa

My son who is 20, would like a Summer job in the areas of Detroit USA. He is at university, and would like to work this Summer.
Can anyone please help, or advice us?

Work visas are not easy to obtain - try the kids summer camps though. Personally, I would look out towards Birmingham or Ann Arbor as these are wealthier areas and Detroit is beset with poverty and unemployment. They are also safer. Ann Arbor being home to the private Uni of Michigan.

He has no chance. The US don't issue working holiday visas, his best bet is Australia.

As has been said, the USA doesn't have a 'working holiday' visa scheme. To get a work permit he would need to have a sponsor in the USA and that sponsor would have to be able to convice the US Immigration Service that no US citizen was capable of doing the job.

Unless your son is prepared to work as camp counsellor, for accommodation and expenses only, (when he could enter the USA using a 'J' visa) the door is barred to him.
