Are there any charity jobs available that pay a salary, and how easy is it to get a job without any major qualifications other than GCSEs and A levels?

Loads. Oxfam, for example, is a major employer, with around 3000 staff in the UK and roughly the same number overseas.

The qualifications and experience required to work for charities are the same as those for similar roles elsewhere. For example, to manage a charity shop you'd need supervisory or management experience in the retail sector. To work in administration you'd need Microsoft Office skills, etc.

Similarly field workers will normally have relevant previous experience. So Age UK might be looking for someone with counselling skills to work with elderly people, whereas MSF would be looking for qualified doctors and nurses to work overseas but possibly for people with accounting skills to work alongside fundraising teams.

If you make your question more specific, and suggest the type of work that you might be seeking, we might be able to provide more useful replies.

Yes, places like the hospices are very much reliant on donations and on volunteer contributions/work, but also have employed staff (I know, I was one). Many charities are looking for common sense and experience in their employees, as well as professional experience.
