Prior to 1983 competitors at the Masters in Augusta were required to employ local black caddies, who in turn were required to wear white boiler suits and green caps. Since 1983 players have been allowed to bring their own caddies, but the boiler suits and caps are still mandatory.

It sits a bit uneasily with me but since I'm not sure it's a race thing I don't really see what can be done about it.
LOL.....I still think that we should have only black caddies.......tradition and all that....
Caddies were required to wear the uniform of caddies at Augusta. They weren't wearing it because they were black nor was it a strict rule that only black men could be caddies. They were, but as a consequence of local circumstances ; all menial jobs of that nature were done by black people
How is it that the green blazer is such a good fit for the winner? Do they have a tailor sitting somewhere waiting to run one up in the correct size?
They have a set of sizes, Sandy. One Cabrera's size would have looked very odd on Scott and vice versa !
