Can anyone help me with this please? The things have recently been weighed at school and thing 1 is 65 kg and thing 2 is 72 kg. when they were born, thing 1 was 5lb 5oz and thing 2 was 6lb 14oz. Is the difference in their weight still the same ratio (or whatever the proper term is)? Thanks (I could probably work it out but I still wouldn't know if I had got the answer correct.)

65kg = 143 lbs
72kg = 168.7 lbs
child 1 is now 90% the weight of child 2.
When they were born... child 1 was 77% the weight of child 2
thing 1 was 77.25% of thing 2 at birth and is now 90% .

Thank you! Would have taken me ages to work it out.
Why do you need to know if they are happy and healthy?

Hi Daisy, I was just curious. (I haven't been out of the house all week (chicken pox) so bored out of my skull!).
No, the ratio isn't the same at all.

65 kilos is (about) 10 per cent less than 72 kilos.

6 lb 14 oz = 6 * 16 + 14 = 110 oz, so for the same ratio, 10 per cent less would be 99 oz. But 5 lb 5 oz is only 85 oz, which is way too much smaller to be covered by the approximateness of that 10 per cent. The lighter thing is definitely catching up.
one is 10 Stone and the other is 12 stone, and both still at school. What are you feeding them on?

Jeez, sorry thing 1 is 16.5kg and thing 2 is 17.4kg (they are only 5!). Just checked the letters I got. Even said to himself how much they weighed earlier and he never thought it was odd! Even said there was 9 bags of sugar between them. (In my defence, I have been poorly.)
lol
Revised estimate...

16.5kg = 36 lbs (ish)
17.4kg = 38 lbs (ish)

I think I was off school when they did weights (and lengths, I'm rubbish at them too. Oh, and the 8 times table.)
LOL. I thought it must have been growmore or something like that. :-)

No thing 2 was about 30% bigger at birth and 10% bigger now.
Can understand that Sherr. Hope all will be well soon.
Grandaughter was 4lb 7oz at birth and now 14 years old towers over me at 5'7". Skinny as a rake but a talented dancer.
Just enjoy them.

Sorry for wasting your time Sandy. (I must seem like a right dimwit, didn't even twig that some grown ups weigh 72kg).

Methyl, why so nasty?
You're not wasting anybodys time. More likely you're helping me and others pass a while. :-)

Cheers Daisy. I'm not worried, just soooo bored (and rubbish at maths).
That's what I was thinking, sherr, as even now at an advancing age (middle), I've yet to achieve a weight of 72kg, and thought thing2 couldn't have got that big so quickly. Relax, they're both fine healthy children, and happy to swim/boot/be sporty, enjoy them. :)
