anyone got any quirky stories on how they got a job? maybe im just romantasizing interesting ways in which people managed to get a job such as saving the life of your future boss or something. In fact has anyone got any unusual tips for getting a job, the funniest one is the mcdonalds application form story http://tinyurl.com/djgpb or indeed does anyone have any interesting stories about jobs they've had? please share them.

I don't get the point of your link.  It is just a circular reference.  I get the following error message:-

Error: TinyURL redirects to a TinyURL!

alternatively when you arrive on the error page you can click on the link it says it was supposed to direct you to.

Good story, but I rather think it is apocryphal.

Sorry I haven't any stories of my own to add.

Yes, definitely of doubtful origin!  I just googled for
"REASON FOR LEAVING: It sucked"
and got 522 identical hits.  I think any employer would think such an applicant was just a chancer and would have nothing to do with him/her.

yeh the story's been all over the web for years but if you think about how many application forms are filled in every day, all it takes is for one smart-alec kid to have some guts.  Either way its a good read, and thats basically all I want.
my wife got an office job with no qualifications or experience over several hundred other applicants simply by adding a couple of naked pics to her application form! and she never had to do anything for the boss than paperwork!!! she left 3 months later with enough experience to get a better paid job then

hmmmm - when i did that all i got was a restraining order!

maybe u dont look like my wife lol
I hear she did more than just paperwork, she did the management as well
We moved house so my husband went to the only local business asking if there were any vacancies. The manager said, 'How did you know XXXX was leaving? He only handed his notice in yesterday,' gave him an application form, then rang him the same day he returned it to say the job was his! Sheer fluke, I know (and my hubby did have experience in the field), but it was like, 'That doesn't happen in real-life!'
