Hey webby27.

First - I hold my hands up and say I can't answer your question.

Second - there is a 9 month waiting list to even be allowed to apply to the Met or Essex forces at the moment.  After that, it's looking like a 2 year wait before you can go to Hendon to train.

Third - therefore, my advice is to see which force you want to join and visit their website.  I'm sure a quick call to their recruitment line would sort it all out nice and swiftly.

I'm sorry that my post was a little negative, I just thought it only fair to share that info with you.  I really hope you do get in, and soon, because it sounds like that's what you want! :-)

hey acw

thanks for that info just went on to policecouldyou site they aren't taking applications for the next year in the area i was hoping for :0( unfortuantly no info on how my family will affect my application I only asked because my brother wanted to join the army a couple of years ago and was told that it was possible he wouldn,t get in due to the terroism charges of a family member so i thought police will be same.Never mind il give recruitment centre a ring tomorrow see what info i can get.

Much Thanks anyways:0)

Well good luck!  Hopefully you'll be ok! :-)

I don't know if it's any help but one of my neighbours has a son who joined the police last year. His dad (my neighbour's ex husband) is currently half way through a 10 year prison sentence for armed robbery.

I don't see why the activities of your relatives should should stop you getting on with your life. Good luck.

Some years ago I was bringing an Irish prisoner back to the UK from Norther Ireland. He told me that he had a brother who was a police inspector, "but there you go" he told me "every family has its white sheep".

So it may be possible to join the police, even with criminal members of your family.

webby try this site http://www.policeuk.com/ it is an unoficial site but quite useful
Hello... on all application forms, I've only entered, partner, child, mother, father, brothers, sisters and in-laws (mother & father)... immediate family..... so just go for it and see what happens Good Luck and i hope it works out for you.
