How often should the companys make a check? Hope this makes sense, some of the staff have worked there about 10yrs etc and only had the one check?

With the exceptions of certain jobs (such as teaching or nursing) there is no statutory (or regulatory) requirement upon any company or organisation to carry out any form of criminal record checks on their employees, at any time.

In England & Wales, only people engaging staff (or volunteers) within 66 specified areas of work have any right to obtain CRB checks on their staff. (Unlike Scotland and Northern Ireland, 'basic' level checks - showing only non-spent convictions- aren't offered by the CRB). So the vast majority of employers in England and Wales are legally barred from checking the criminal records of their staff.

Thanks Chris
I work in a local goverment run school, and just think that some of the staff that haven't been checked for so many years, should be.
