Any trade really.

There is a shortage of brickies but if you want the money then train to be a plumber.
Where is the shortage of brickies Ummmm? Only asking because my brother is one and is looking to do something else because there is no work about (not round here anyway!).

Sorry, back to the original question - grifter, it helps if the training course is in something you are genuinely interested in. There is no point doing a training course purely to get a job if it is something you aren't really bothered about, you will loose interest and probably not complete it.

It largely depends on what type of job you are wanting to get at the end of it, a manual job, a management position, a trade? Why point spending a fortune doing a qualification in Business Management if you really want to be an electrician for example.
Spend it on a course in your local college/uni - these courses always more than reward.
How about "Driving Instructor", that's assuming that you can drive.
Huge shortage of Gent's Barbers. 6 month course and you'll be earning a lot of money.....and you can do it full or part time. Employed or self-employed. In one shop or mobile.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
