My husband arrived at work this morning (working stables/estate), parked his car in the staff car park, unloaded the boot, took the items into the office, as he was coming out of the office he heard a loud thump and found that a roof slate had from one of the buildings had fallen onto the roof of our car because of the high winds. Can he claim against his employeers insurance to get out motor repaired?

Yes, if they have buildings insurance, your husband can make a claim as the buildings insurance will cover damage to third party property under the property owners liability section.
You will find that liability is only admissible if they failed to maintain the roof. They would need to be found to be negligent, otherwise they are not legally liable.

Regarding Zacmaster 's reply, if there was negligence I'm pretty sure the building owner couldn't rely on a sign saying 'Cars parked here are done so entirely at the owners risk'
