Speeding points obtained outside of the UK

Last year I was caught speeding during a brief holiday in Dublin. I consequently received a fine (which I have paid) and a letter stating I have 3 points on my licence. I have since filed this letter and done nothing more with it. Do these points 'count' in the UK & should I therefore inform the DVLA and my insurance company?

They do not count in the UK. Ireland introduced it's own points system about 2 years ago. As yet there is no commanality between EU countries, there may well be in the future though!

If you do not have the offence actualy recorded on your Driving Licence you have a clean licence, forget it.
