I was cold called by Shore brokers regarding insuring my sky equipment including box and dish from wear and tear and accidental damage. I realise that insurance is a good idea but I don't want to be ripped off. Am I covered under my household insurance or can I get reliable insurance elsewhere

Household Ins will not cover if the box goes wrong nor wear and tear, the dish rarely need attention, check on line cost of a new box then decide, personally I have no Insurance and when and if the time comes will buy a box on line, they are cheap enough and easy to change over now.

Thank you kjn2 I think that good idea
Note that this company may not be connected to Sky at all.

I would never buy ANYTHING from anyone who cold called me, and I think doing so is very risky.

I suggest you do the same.

Thank you VHG I will leave well enough alone
They may not know you have sky. There have been reports of companies who make speculative calls to random numbers

Thank you factor - I said that if anything happened I would just cancel Sky - he said that's a bit drastic I will look at things if the worst scenario happens - I sure Sky won't want to lose a customer
AVOID Shore Brokers. I did take insurance with Shore brokers and renewed a couple of times. I was told on the phone when I took the insurance that I had a choice of 3 months, 6 months or a year. I made my choice and paid. When my router went wrong, they didn't cover it so I said I didn't want it any more. I was paid up to the end of the agreed term. This was months ago and last week I received a letter saying I owed them £69 for the year after I had cancelled. The letter said they had been trying to contact me by phone and letter - they hadn't. I called and they said they would 'check their phone recordings' and get back to me the next day - they didn't. Today, I got a threatening letter from a debt collection agency saying they will sue within 4 days claiming that extra payments were in the small print. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY - their cover was not suitable, they claim to have tried to contact you when they haven't and then they try to threaten you. I will now have to take legal action against them to stop their harassment and threats.
